So, last night I made the fake armadillo skin. It still needs to be painted. I found out that you can water down silicone with mineral spirits, so I'm going to get some of those and see if I can paint it with silicone to make it a little stronger, as it tends to rip fairly easily as it is now. Silicone is flexible and good at not ripping.

I used the entire bin of model magic I had gotten, so I was glad I chose the bin instead of a smaller amount. I rolled the pieces out flat on a piece of plastic wrap (with a rolling pin wrapped in plastic wrap) to approximately the shapes I wanted, and then pushed the end of a lip gloss tube into it to make the circles. A wooden skewer did the lines on the edges.

I'm finding out while doing this project that I'm far too used to doing things on the computer. I have this idea in my head that if I can make one of something I can make more of it super-easily, and that if I can make somthing small I can make it big. Copy-paste doesn't work in real life! Making all those huge pieces took hours and made my fingers turn red from pushing.

I really learned this earlier with the horns, but that drove it in further. I'll get to learn it again when I do the ropes.

Tonight I'm going shopping for the final pieces (except stuffing, which is coming up from the states) and then when I get home I'll be painting the skins, attaching zippers, making ropes, and who knows what else.

It's finally all coming together.
