Toilet paper in a bowl & leggies

Today my family came home. They do crazy things like 'going to bed at a reasonable hour' so I'm not able to sew till the wee hours. That's probably for the best anyhow.
I've started sewing in earnest now, it is rather slow because I'm having to pin every inch or so so it doesn't stretch and go funny. I got both the legs all stitched but the last seam, though, which is pretty good considering I started rather late today.
Of course, the first thing I did after helping them unpack was to rip up a roll of toilet paper and cover it in boiling water. I suppose they won't soon forget that I have odd hobbies.
Ripping up a roll of toilet paper is kind of strange. I had to make it into small pieces and while it was fun at first to dig into the roll with my nails and rip out a portion, it got kind of tiresome after awhile of trying to rip it against the grain.
The toilet paper is going to soak in the water overnight and then tomorrow I'll be removing most of the water, mixing in some paste and using it to coat my paper mache pieces. The idea here is that using pulp rather than strips will leave fewer wrinkles. The reason it's toilet paper and not newspaper is because toilet paper is white and then I won't have to use so many coats of paint.
I've never done this before so I have no idea how well it will work as a coating. We'll find out!
I'm probably going to pin that last seam on the legs together before I go to sleep tonight so that I can just sew them together tomorrow.
